The education of our children in the history, customs, language and rituals of the Jewish people is one of the most important priorities of our Temple. A staff of experienced teachers and a qualified full time director all influence your child's religious growth.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Our Sunday School is for our kindergarten, first and second grade students who meet once a week for two hours on Sunday. These students are introduced to Jewish holidays, home rituals, basic Jewish terminology and beginning Hebrew vocabulary and prayer. The methods of study are through music, crafts, dance and story telling.
HEBREW SCHOOL: Our school system is presented in carefully graded stages. The primary grades of Alef, Bet and Gimel are for our third, fourth and fifth grade students who meet twice a week for a total of four hours. The emphasis is on reading, Siddur language, Jewish holiday concepts, Jewish ethics and history.
The Dalet and Hey students are our sixth and seventh graders who also meet twice a week for two hours. These students learn the skills needed to help lead Friday night and Saturday morning services. They also meet with the Cantor and Rabbi to prepare for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
The Hebrew and Sunday school are involved with tzedakah projects and community service activities. The school also participates in book club projects. Each month a Hero of Jewish history is selected to widen the students knowledge of Judaica.
CONFIRMATION CLASS: Our confirmation classes meet once a week to discuss such topics as participation in mitzvah projects, Israeli issues and comparative religions. These students meet religious leaders in the community and take educational trips.
POST CONFIRMATION CLASS: The goal of our post confirmation program is to keep our young adults interested and involved in Jewish issues through personal experiences. Our students meet once every two weeks. Some of their programs are; holiday trips to other temples, joint programs with neighboring temples, community service projects, comparative religion events, museum and theatre trips and guest speakers on local and national issues.
