Following a year of study with Rabbi Emert, ten tenth grade students were confirmed at Shavu'ot services on May 18th. The students each gave a speech relating to an ethics topic, read torah and sang Shavu'ot songs.

Passover Nursing Home Visit - THANK YOU to Volunteers

Once again before Passover, TBR members visited local nursing homes to share "Passover goodie bags" with the elderly Jewish residents.
Many thanks to the following helpers for preparing the bags and distributing them bringing a bit of joy on this special holiday season. They have performed a wonderful
mitzvah and taught our children the importance of doing loving acts of kindness and respecting older members of the Jewish community.

More than 75 TBR congregants socialized and learned together at our 2nd event in the 2nd year of our Food For Thought: Distinguished Speaker Series. Our gratitude to all those who support us. Our appreciation to those who made this event so seamless.

Once again our annual TBR BBQ was a great success! With beautiful weather, a nice turn out, amazing volunteers and an overall good feeling, we started the season on a great note!

A wonderful showing of TBR families attended the farewell dinner in honor of Micheline Burke. Speeches were made and gifts were given as we all shared in memories of the many years that Miche spent as our Director of the Hebrew School. The service following the dinner also honored Micheline.

| April, 2009 - 7th Annual Murray Prawer Mitzvah Walk |
Temple Beth Rishon’s 7th Annual Mitzvah Day Murray Prawer Walk was an amazing success! With 200 people participating, TBR raised almost $7,000 for Gilda’s Club of Northern New Jersey!
Additionally, Community Blood Services of NJ was able to collect 17 pints of urgently needed blood.
Thank you to all the temple members and families who came out on a hot, but beautiful April day to walk in memory of Muz Prawer and to make a contribution to Gilda’s Club of Northern New Jersey.

Twenty men and women from Beth Rishon generously contributed their time on Easter Sunday so that Valley Hospital’s regular volunteers could leave their posts to celebrate the holiday with their friends and families.
Some of our members greeted hospital visitors at the Concierge Desk in the main lobby. Others worked in the Emergency Room, distributing warm blankets to patients and making the rounds with two specially prepared carts, one filled with foods and beverages and the other with reading materials, toys and coloring books.
This year, for the first time, Beth Rishon moms and/or grandmas also helped serve lunch and dinner to new mothers in the Maternity Department.
